Start with facts you can check

Marketing pages tend to emphasise surroundings and sentiment. The things that actually differ between services are more mundane and more useful:

  • Setting — residential, day programme, outpatient, or a combination.
  • What is treated — alcohol, illicit drugs, prescription medication dependency, and whether mental health difficulties are supported alongside.
  • Detox — whether it is offered at all, and whether it is medically managed.
  • Programme length — and what actually happens in each week.
  • Staffing — which professions deliver the programme, and their registration.
  • Regulation — which regulator, what the registration covers, and when it was last inspected.
  • Cost — the total, what is included, and what is charged separately.
  • Aftercare — what continues after discharge, for how long, and at what cost.

Verify independently

Registration and inspection information for services in England is published by the Care Quality Commission; Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own regulators. Professional registration for individual clinicians can be checked with bodies such as the GMC, NMC, HCPC or BACP.

NeuroLynk records the source and date of any regulatory information we display, so you can check it yourself. We do not infer or estimate a rating.

Be cautious about

  • guaranteed outcomes or "success rates" that cannot be evidenced
  • pressure to commit or pay quickly
  • vague answers about who is clinically responsible
  • prices that change materially after an initial quote
  • reviews or testimonials presented as clinical evidence

Use a shortlist

Comparing three or four providers on the same factual criteria is more useful than reading many brochures. The NeuroLynk compare tool places up to four Recovery providers side by side on setting, services, detox, programme length, indicative price, family support, aftercare, accessibility and verified regulatory information.

Then speak to them

A comparison narrows the field; a conversation decides it. Ask each shortlisted provider the same questions and note how clearly they answer. A service that is comfortable explaining its limits is usually a better sign than one that promises everything.

What NeuroLynk does not do

We do not rank providers by payment, we do not assess clinical suitability, and we do not arrange treatment. Sponsored or featured placement, where it exists, is clearly labelled and kept separate from factual ordering.

Frequently asked questions

Are online reviews a reliable guide?
They can show how people experienced a service, but they are not evidence of clinical quality. Regulator reports, staffing information and written programme details are more reliable.
Should I choose the nearest provider?
Location matters for visits, travel and continuing support afterwards, but it is one factor among several. Weigh it against setting, clinical fit and cost.
Can NeuroLynk tell me which provider is best for me?
No. We show verified, provider-declared information so you can compare. Clinical suitability is determined by a provider or NHS clinician.
